ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Sarah and I have over a decade of experience in parenting a couple of very special kids. Our first is a beautiful healthy neurotypical boy and our second is a beautiful healthy girl with a working diagnosis of “unspecified cognitive delay” although her constellation of behaviours, delays and quirks go way beyond that.

I would like to help you with your journey with your family. Maybe you have kids with diverse needs, or maybe you need some hints on how to handle some pretty unique situations that pop up when you work with kids who see and understand the world a little differently. Maybe you feel like your parenting life has been isolating because not a lot of your friends and family really understand the added challenges of parenting a child (or more than one) that needs more from you. I’ve been there with my little family and I’m here to share our experiences, what has worked for us, where we need more support and services and how you can learn from our blunders so you don’t have to repeat them.

I’m really good at listening (introvert since birth), express myself best in writing (hence the blog), and I have a knack for dreaming up home improvement projects for us to DIY at home (much to my husband’s delight and chagrin).

I’m a family Chiropractor with a special area of focus on prenatal and pediatric care and I get to experience the joy and challenges of working with every type of kid in my daily life. Nothing in practice life ever prepared me for the parenting experience (and sleep deprivation) that comes with a kid like mine. But I’ve seen it all, mamas.

Quick Quirky List of Things About Me:

I only ever get that “deeply happy” feeling when I’m outside.

I love lifting weights, kayaking and hiking.

I LOVE to read but haven’t been able to read a physical book in 10 years until this past summer. I get all my “reading” in on Audible.

I didn’t drink coffee until I was 27 and now, I can’t live without it.

I trust my gut on everything and have since my mom encouraged me to as a kid. It’s a common theme in my writing.

My kids are my world, but you will never catch me being anything but honest about the highs and the lows of that dynamic. Sunshine and rainbows in parenting is for “small talk” and introverts (like me) HATE small talk.

So many of my mama friendships have been based in getting real and honest about our struggles. I hope I can create a space where you feel seen in my posts.
