Heart Led Family was designed specifically for you (and here's why)

Writer: Sarah TremblaySarah Tremblay

I’m tired of going online to find info about the latest change in our kids behaviours or what our next steps may be for her care and finding NOTHING…

With rates of neurodiversity and special needs of around 10%, you might think that resources would abound for moms needing support or more information or even just a community of other moms on the same journey, but there isn’t much. Particularly if your child doesn’t fall into one (or more) of the few common diagnoses. So many moms are struggling to hold up their families, take care of themselves and plan for the future, but there just hasn’t been many solid resources for them to support their unique problems, needs and situations that come up when you’re a special needs parent.

So I decided to build it. For myself; to get the many thoughts I have on our experiences out there, and for you because if I can’t find my community then you might be struggling too. No one truly understands what we’re going through; how we bob and weave, adapt, plan, worry, stress, prepare, explain the heck out of ourselves and still sometimes feel like we’re not doing a great job. Unless they’re in that boat with you, they just nod, try to relate, tell you they “can’t imagine how hard that must be” and go on with their lives. It happens to me weekly. Even with my closest friends. I don’t begrudge them their inability to understand it, but I really do want to be among the people who really get it. Even if it’s just online.

You are not a one dimensional being. Your entire existence is not wrapped up in how or who you parent. There is more to you and to life. I want to show you how we get that done with relatively little care support, limited resources and time. You have a life, a home, maybe you work and/or volunteer. There are lots of things that need to get done in a day, and sometimes we have to do them differently when we’re working around our kids. Tips and hints on how to manage a home, build dream spaces on a budget (time and money), and enjoy social time within your family’s constraints will appear here too. Because I’m a heck of a lot more than the lady who cooks dinner.

You want to trust your instincts more. And you want to be so confident in those instincts that you tackle every obstacle in your way in order to have them heard. When I’m talking about the health of babies and kids and even pregnant mamas in my office, I ask the moms: what is your mama heart telling you? Maybe you know instantly, maybe you need more info, maybe that mama heart is just telling you that you need to look somewhere else for what you need. I always want you to listen to it. If you can hear it clearly, listen. If you need to build some confidence in listening to it, you’ll get some great stories about it here.

If you saw yourself in any of those statements or relate to that feeling of needing more people who get you, I built this for you. I’m so excited for us to grow together.

Xo, Sarah
